Have you heard of Dragonette? They are to dragons what A-Z is to Alphabs. That’s right, they’re mucho goodo, unlike Coco Jamboo.
This Saturday, the first and only Saturday of the August bank holiday weekend, they will be playing a one-off London date at 93 Feet East on Brick Lane and (not-so coincidentally) so will we. By we I mean Neon Highwire, not we as in urea. That would require two e’s and when it comes to spelling I do not bluff. Hey! It’s Sergeant BulletPoints, everyone’s favourite military entity!
By the way, you just lost the game.
If those bullet points are too intense for you, then you can learn betterer by watching this video involving talking bears.
Other than that, we’re hard at work on our next EP which may (won’t) feature songs with titles like
I’m sure there’s other stuff to mention too, but I’ve got a really sore throat, like one of those ones where every swallow hurts. I tried to get an early night last night too, but alas I kept waking up with throat pain. There’s more remixes and stuff like that at http://www.myspace.com/neonrewire. We did a revamp of the Myspace page as Myspace changed everything, though by we I mean Luke did.
Here’s the upcoming gig list and associated links.

Wooooooooord.
Sorry to email you so soon after the last one, but this is more important than Norway.
There’s been a change to our London show tomorrow night. It’s no longer at 93 Feet East, but at Catch, 22 Kingsland Road, Shoreditch, London, E2 8DA instead.
Double Rainbow pulled out for no apparent reason then Artefacts For Space Travel pulled out for personal reasons, then the promoter pulled out for financial reasons. If you bought a ticket, you can contact wegottickets to get a full refund. Big apologies for this, but I assure you it was totally out of our control. Thanks to the cooler than cool guys at !Forwardslashmusic! though, we’re now on the bill for their new night at Shoreditch venue Catch instead (only up the road from 93 Feet East) with Reachback and The Amberblacks. We’ll be on stage just before 22:00, but will be milling about the whole evening so come say HELLO.
Spread the woooooooooooord.
Wooooooooooooord.
Steve.
Skip This Bit If You Have No Soul
Man, my song titles are so awesome. It’s like I just think of this shizzle all the time, like I’m made of magic haribo or something. The way I see it, we should write our album around the following list of song names. I’ve done the hard work coming up with this list, the other two can do all the recording and I’ll sit at the side and criticise. ”YOU’RE DOING IT WRONG JIM! DO IT AGAIN BUT WITH MORE GOOD.”
1. Sidechaining Your Sox Groans To My Station Exx
2. I Don’t Think You Should Have Done That, Reginald (Part II)
3. I Don’t Think You Should Have Done That, Reginald (Part IV)
4. ^ Scat
5. I Didn’t Want Your Stupid Chair Anyway
6. Aerosmith On The Bus
7. I Only Like People Who Laugh At My Jokes
8. Whatever, I’ve Read Books
9. Yeah Politics Man Yeah F**k The Government Man And Stuff (Chair’s Lament)
10. Turned Out It Wasn’t Aerosmith
11. Conversations I Thought I Had But Turned Out To Have Dreamt That They Happened
12. Aerosmith On The Bus (Reprise)
If you’ve got ideas for the title of this future Mercury Music Prize winning affair, click here and add it as a comment. I’ll send the writer of the best one a copy of our EP.
Leave your house and have a good time
We’re playing 93 Feet East a week Wednesday, as you know. You don’t need me to tell you it’s gonna be awesome, and we’re playing new material too, so you’ll be all like “Wow, I think this is new material” and you will be right. A week Friday we’re then heading to Brighton to play at The Hope, so tell everyone you know who lives near Brighton and isn’t a total pillock. Other than that, we’re confirming a festival appearance in April, a launch party for the Luminescence EP despite the fact that it’s out already and gig + swimming pool in May.

This email is about two things, they shall fight to the death
Playing 93 Feet East with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs! Buy tickets now!
vs.
Luminescence printing!
FIGHT (to the death)
Detailses followses (to the death)
The Playground
It’s nice to play a gig where I’d absolutely be there in attendance, buying tickets whether we were playing or not. On Saturday 16th January it’s one of those occasions. The Playground put on immense nights including filthy electro, incredible bands (us, innit), Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, burlesque, VJ shows AND THE LIKE. Yeah, it’s gonna be incredible and it’s the perfect solution to your New Years Resolutions which are an absolute waste of time anyway fatty. The event is likely to sell out so don’t be an IDIOT, buy your tickets in advance here. Anyone who knows me and wants some place to stay afterwards, get in touch.
Luminescence
Luminescence is totally finished. Finito. We’re just putting the finishing touches to the artwork then the Red Book is off to the printers. We’ll be filling you in on details of how you can buy it soon. It’s been mastered by Simon Davey at The Exchange (click the links to see what he’s previously worked on). It’s an awe-inspiring piece of work. Check out these reviews I just made up by people who haven’t heard it:
“First was there Beethoven, then there was Neon Highwire. Everything in the middle was all like ‘wah wah wah’. I’m hungry.” – Graeme Forstidious (Fistmagnetron Magazine)
“When I die I want this played at my funeral so instead of crying, people be all like dancing instead.” – Herby Privaté (BBC 8 Live)
“One time I got in to trouble with the police and it was very much bad news. He was about to arrest me twice but then I put Isometric View on his CD player and he embraced me into his bosom. This has happened to me three times now.” – Canaverous Belfield (Freshfieldd FM)
Here’s the list of all our shows:
Saturday 16th January 2010

Luminescence, the EP we’ve been talking about for almost as long as the band have been going is finally finished! The mastering was completed by Simon Davey at The Exchange. It was an honour working with the guy who’s polished off the latest Boys Noize, Vitalic, Chromeo recently. Though tempting, we didn’t swipe the Filthy Dukes HDD which was lying around, we’ve got morals (download: here)!
We’re just putting the finishing touches to the artwork before sending it off to the printers before you’ll be able to ACTUALLY BUY IT. Yes, that’s right, it will be real. Jim’s other project still hasn’t released its debut EP! It was 95% finished when we formed! Mental! Poke him, make it happen, we don’t care if it takes his time now, Luminescence is finished!
Spare two minutes to tell these guys why we’re so fantabulous: http://bit.ly/NeonLove. Here are some suggestions:
(a) Luke Fussell has never killed a man.
(b) We were the first band EVER to play on stage with an unopened tin of sild in a bag named “Chastity”.
(c) Sometimes it hurts to pee.
(d) Combined, they have enough hair to fill thirty seven full sized pillows.
(e) James Dippie is not featured in the computer game “Prince Of Persia”.
(f) Prince actually quite likes their music, though has yet to hear it.
(h) None of them voted in the last US election.
(i) THERE IS NO I
(j) Jackie Joyner-Kersee once saw a photo of them stencilled onto the side of an old tramp and commented “That guy smells of wee”.
(k) Steven Morgan believes the film Logan’s Run to be a sooth-saying documentary.
(l) Each band member is well known for having their own teeths.
(m) They are strong advocates of roundabouts as a successful traffic easing system, but believe Swindon took things too far.
(n) They have featured in the magazines OK and Hello, but under the name “Victoria Beckham”.
(o) Ooooh darlin’, please believe me, I will never let you go.
(p) The band have no association with Scientology.
(q) Luke Fussell can pronounce the t in the word “planetarium”.
(r) James Dippie once featured in the background of a Peruvian commercial for apple sauce dressed as Courtney Love.
(s) Susan Boyle is rumoured to guest on the début album.
(t) Their début album will not be called “Hammers”.
(u, v, w, y & x) They have never been romantically linked to N-Sync
(z) THE EYES! THE EYES! THEY HAVE NO SOULS!
Get inspired! Neon Highwire FTW!
Westside Will played our track Don’t: Wait on his radio show, listen here: http://bit.ly/neonwestsidewill.
It would appear that we have made it through to the voting stages of Radio Aire and Leeds City College’s Local and Unsigned competition. Not entirely sure how or why this has happened, but should we get through to the final then we will have to adopt our best pseudo-Leeds accents to avoid people suspecting us of being soft southerners.

It may save your life.
Now this is a story all about
Luminescence mastering!
A couple of guys who were up to no good started making trouble
At a sure-to-be-fantastic gig with a killer line-up at The Old Blue Last!
I got in one little fight and my moms got scared, she said
“Booking up a UK tour for next May!”
I pulled up to the house about seven or eight and I yelled to the cabbie
“Only a handful of t-shirts left, buy yours TODAY!”
but enough homage to The Fresh Prince, we gotta elaborate!
Luminescence
As you may remember from the last message, our début EP Luminescence is recorded and currently being lined up to be mastered. If you think this process is taking too long, I propose berating Luke or Jim at one of our gigs. I, Steve, or The Innocent don’t hold the copy of the wav files so am utterly powerless. Jim also has “borrowed” my laptop for over a month now, feel free to tell him to buy a Mac and give mine back too. You’ve got to be cruel to be kind. Mastering and printing can’t even begin until we’ve got the tracks in a form to send. Yes.
The Old Blue mother-flippin Last
On Tuesday December 1st, Neon Highwire open a devistatingly good line-up at fashionable Shoreditch haunt The Old Blue Last. Sure Vice Magazine are profoundly up their own arses, but they’ve never claimed to be anything but. If you lament Prince’s descent into noodley boringsville, check out Ignug. It’s gonna be great.
UK Tour
Thanks to all those who got back to us with leads for booking up a UK tour for next year. We still need your help so rack your brains and talk to everyone you know! We don’t care what cities at the moment, most importantly is that it’s a decent night with bands involved too. We’re looking at cities like Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds, wherever. So the message remains consistent, if you can help in any way (including the offer of floors to sleep on), you may just bag yourself a Neon t-shirt. Oh the t-shirts!
T-shirts & downloads
Only a handful remain! Get yourself down to one of our fantastic shows as listed below to get one for yourself, they look well lush. Alternatively, contact us through www.myspace.com/neonhighwire to get one personally delivered. Good golly! Don’t forget you can still download tracks from the debut promo from http://amiestreet.com/music/neon-highwire or http://indiestore.7digital.com/neonhighwireuk/.
Here’s the list of all our shows:
